    Idle Before the Motionless Lights

Shadows of clouds darken the already night sky
for now I will focus on the snowy white peaks
that mask on the silhouette of mountains
that face above the approaching highway
The song on the radio serves a timely reminder
as I await before the final intersection
    idle before the motionless lights
    I watch the windshield wipers
push the water of these raindrops
    my favored casualties
    my intolerable souvenirs
I’d like to think this red glare
    would stay forever
but it will soon turn green
and I will have to move on
To a bed, just to rest my head
    heavy with the thought
of how I could just turn back
    and do it all again

    Lonely One Life

    Walking by a cardboard shelter,
    you hear a quiet plea’
bothered and in a rush, you ignore him’
    and continue walking.
He’s homeless and continues searching the floor for scraps,
he’s helpless and continues searching the sky for hopes.
Sure he might take your coins,
    to buy drugs and alcohol,
…..but only if it numbs the pain
…..and if only for a second.
    He didn’t choose this life
Im sure you’ve made mistakes too,
But it’s too late to change it now,
he’s too far to go back anyhow.
While you worry about rush hour traffic,
he worries about surviving the night,
and while you cry over a spill on your new suit,
he cries when thinking about his family,
    ….his father who passed away
….his alcoholic mom who disowned him long ago.
His lonely eyes fill with tears,
as the heroin addiction takes hold once again.
One thing you both have in common,
you both have one life to live,
    no where to turn
    no way to go back
    no one to love
    nothing to hope for
    …..One life.

A Road So Covered in Snow

    The twisting in his stomach
    was telling a tale
    of a turning heart

    While he filled the pages
    with the shards of words
    of a burning art

    She lies under sheets
and stares up at a dancing thought
    that’s has taken the night

    Beneath this chilly sky
it’s the hope of something beautiful
    that has taken the night

    Between them sits a road
a road so covered in snow
some say, it could make you blind

A road so covered in snow
some say, if you waited just long enough
it would be a beautiful place to find

    October Leaves

If I can see the Sun
    then why am I still
    so cold?
    Watching the leaves dying
    just to be
    picked up
    again

Im as naked as the trees
Im as frozen as the ground
I will keep watching the leaves
    as we both fall down

    So I will follow October
    as she slowly
    walks away
Im sure I will get it
    right
    next time
    I promise

    The Thief

Some say I could have stopped this crime
but I swear it happened too fast
    as I watched her escaping
    escaping her past
    just in time
    just
    in time

And some say she’s trespassed these walls before
but I swear she’s just looking for light
as I watched her steal this heart
    steal this heart tonight
    just once for
    just
    once more
