They hide from you and the people you love.
They tear you away from the things that you love.
Everything is something else.
Everything is lit from below.

These damn things that pull families apart.
The horrible inklings that make you doubt.
So dangerous to know.
So terrifying to keep.

We are told from the beginning not to keep them hidden.
Somehow we all do.
You would think they’d bubble up?
You wonder who to tell.

You don’t tell.
Hush and be silent.
Keep your mouth closed.
Never say a word.
